Don’t forget your flu shot
15 April 2019
Winter is arriving soon, so it’s time to protect yourself ahead of this year’s flu season by getting your flu shot.
SouthSeas Healthcare Registered Nurse Alesana Onosa’i Misa says staff are reminding their patients this month about the flu vaccine and importance of getting their flu shot. It can help prevent flu, and make the symptoms less severe if they do catch it.
SouthSeas has sent flu vaccine recalls to enrolled patients, advising them to come into the clinic to get their flu injections.
“During the last 2 weeks, our clinic nurses have started reminding our patients about this and we have been busy immunising our eligible patients before it gets in to the Winter flu season.”
“This vaccine is the best protection against the most common forms of influenza. It is important to have this vaccine. We also remind our patients to talk to us, as some may be eligible for a free vaccine, so please check with your doctor or a nurse if you think you may be eligible,” says Alesana.
“It is also a friendly reminder to all our staff to get the message out “Get set, get ready to protect ourselves and our communities from the flu”, as we encourage our patients to see the nurses at the clinic for their flu vaccination or talk to their GP about the flu jab.”
“Remember influenza can be anywhere, so talk to us.”
Alesana says getting the message out there about influenza immunisation is important.
