SouthSeas staff taking part in the ShakeOut drill

SouthSeas Healthcare participated in the New Zealand ShakeOut earthquake drill last month.

Staff were encouraged to take a moment to Drop, Cover and Hold, practising the actions they would take following a strong earthquake. Staff wardens led the exercise as part of the Nation-wide Shake Out.

Staff who took part in the exercise were reminded how they can improve their personal preparedness by updating their contact details, reviewing the contents in their Get Ready Kit, updating their personal and/or family emergency plan and refreshing their emergency kit at home.

The Ministry of Civil Defence and Emergency Management has great resources for personal preparedness on their website.

SouthSeas Healthcare applauded staff who participated in the ShakeOut drill, and reminded staff to get familiar with the emergency plans in the office, and to speak staff wardens if they have any issues or concerns.

The ShakeOut drill was held across the country, to remind people of the right actions to take during an earthquake (Drop, Cover and Hold), and to practise a tsunami evacuation if located in coastal areas.
