Getting inspired at youth leadership workshop
11 May 2018
SouthSeas Healthcare, in partnership with Mentoring and Tutoring education scheme (MATES), delivered a fun filled workshop for Pacific scholarship students from St Kentigern’s College earlier this year.
The workshop focused on leadership with a special segment on MYSTORY.
Students were given the brief on MYSTORY as a platform that fosters resilience in South Auckland Pasifika youth through the art of storytelling.
Many were inspired by the vision of MYSTORY to ensure that young people understand the value of their story when sharing and acquire the support and skills to further develop their stories by understanding the mechanics behind responding to other young people’s stories.
At the heart of learning the art of storytelling, the students had the opportunity to reflect on their own ability to articulate their story, so that it inspires, mobilises and calls for more listeners to act on what they have heard.
Thanks to St Kentigern’s innovative approach to education, founded in Christian values and tradition, having their students attend this workshop has inspired them to focus on achieving their fullest potential at each stage of their educational journey.
The students were most fortunate to be able to spend time at SouthSeas Healthcare, to learn about the services and programmes targeting young people.
SouthSeas Healthcare would like to thank St Kentigern’s students and their parents, and look forward to many more opportunities to work alongside schools to inspire students with the services offered by Pacific health providers.
