Interns help deliver MYSTORY framework
20 June 2019

The MYSTORY Summit this weekend themed ‘Born to make an impact’ will help profile the eleven interns who have been working tirelessly to design, promote and deliver the MYSTORY framework since April.
In February, South Seas Healthcare opened up internship opportunities to Pacific young people in South Auckland to enhance their academic, career, and wellbeing goals through a nine-month internship.
A commitment of at least 10 hours a month is required from interested applicants, with an expectation to attend monthly workshops dedicated to developing their skills, supporting their studies, and improving their wellbeing goals.
South Seas Healthcare CEO Silao Vaisola-Sefo says the number of applications was impressive. “We were elated with the number of young people willing to take up these internship opportunities.”
“It is interesting to see such a diverse range of young people in South Auckland coming together to be involved in the 9-month internship. This diversity allowed the interns to work on strengthening the MYSTORY framework and we look forward introducing them at the Summit this weekend.”
The selection criteria was applicants be aged between 16 and 19 years old, live in South Auckland, are not currently a participant of another internship, mentoring or leadership programme, have the support of their family in the their involvement in the 9-month internship, and have the drive and passion to want to benefit from the internship programme and a genuine interest in a potential career in health.
The benefits the internships offer include capped funding towards school related costs, academic, pastoral and career support, wellbeing and leadership mentoring and skills development.
