Language celebration important to team building
07 October 2019
SouthSeas Healthcare celebrates Tuvaluan and Chinese languages as an opportunity for team building while at the same time for raising awareness of language, culture and linguistic diversity with SouthSeas Healthcare staff. This celebration also provides an opportunity to acknowledge the diverse background of clients and families accessing the clinic and SouthSeas services.
Every year, SouthSeas have invested in celebrating languages at work, driven by staff and supported by management, as part of their contribution to language learning and valuing the diverse cultural make-up of the SouthSeas team.
Having these celebrations are not only crucial to building team work, but ensure staff feel valued and connected.
“It is about valuing and acknowledging the diverse culture in SouthSeas and honouring the contribution of our staff,” says SouthSeas Healthcare Practice Manager Tule Tuinauvai.
“These celebrations are important in building our team but also encourage good communication and collaboration, while at the same time valuing each culture our staff members bring to SouthSeas.”
“Language and culture celebrations are important to us. We try and use the language weeks as an opportunity for staff to explore those languages, celebrate and acknowledge the importance of language learning and sharing and team work.”
“SouthSeas is always proud to be part of Languages Week, inspiring our staff to be culturally and linguistically aware and remind them of the richness and diversity of the cultural make up of SouthSeas and celebrate it.”
