Staff workshop to look into future development

SouthSeas staff planning for the future

SouthSeas Healthcare staff recently congregated for a half-day workshop to paint the picture of the next 20 years for the organisation.

“SouthSeas’ ways of working now can be quite different in a year's time, or even when it was established 20 years ago,” says SouthSeas Healthcare CEO Silao Vaisola-Sefo.

“It's about sharing and hearing stories, seeing what's ahead and having an understanding of what our patients and clients want to see in our services. It is also about understanding the needs of our staff to keep them engaged.”

Telling stories and hearing staff talking about their aspirations contributes to the fabric of SouthSeas Healthcare over the next 20 years.

“Hearing staff talking about their experiences and what they want to see in the workplace improves our business environment and contributes greatly to the flexibly in dealing with challenges and can shift many things that otherwise may not be working,” says Silao.

Silao says their organisation journey starts with staff stories, to acknowledge their voice and use their stories as a vehicle to create the future for SouthSeas.

“These stories will capture what is important to each staff member and to the lifeline of SouthSeas.”

“Our vision is improving health and the wellbeing of our Pacific peoples, including other ethnic communities. This remains the reason why we exist and the reason why we will exist for the next 20 years.”

“This staff workshop was all about creating and shaping together the SouthSeas Way that will direct us for the next 20 years.”

Many staff said it was a very successful workshop.

“That's what's driving us to engage and see where we can improve, whether that's practically, or a long-term strategy we need to start working on now,” says Silao.

Staff are looking forward to the 20th years Anniversary of SouthSeas Healthcare scheduled in February 2019.
