SouthSeas acknowledge all Pacific nurses' services to NZ and their communities.

Sunday 12 May marks the International Nurses’ Day and SouthSeas Healthcare have used this week to honour its own nurses. They are part of New Zealand’s largest nursing workforce.

The Ministry of Health says there are 58,206 enrolled nurses, registered nurses and nurse practitioners working across New Zealand. This is an increase from 56,356 registered nurses at the end of March last year, with 55,290 working in the sector the previous year.

The work of the nurses in SouthSeas is important.

They are often the first port of call for clients and people enquiring at the clinic.

Silao Vaisola-Sefo, SouthSeas Healthcare CEO says it is extremely important to acknowledge the contribution of nurses, and especially Pacific nurses in the medical practice. It is also important to recognise the unique contribution that our Pacific nurses make to New Zealand and the Pacific healthcare service.

“There is always a demand for Pacific nurses everywhere, to engage with all parts of our Pacific communities and all sectors in the number of health and well-being challenges faced by our Pacific communities and families.”

“We support our nurses to deliver the best care they can to continue to make a massive contribution to our families and communities.”

They have a really important role to play in patient care.

SouthSeas Healthcare would like to recognise the diverse contribution of Pacific nurses and it is impossible to express the value of the care they provide for the families and individuals they serve. The caregiving being done by many should not go unrecognised.

International Nurses acknowledge the contribution made by Pacific nurses who have impacted people’s lives and who are trying to make a difference for betterment in the fields of health.

International Nurses’ Day has been celebrated every year since 1965 around the globe on 12th May, and this year’s theme is “Nursing: The Balance of Mind, Body, and Spirit”.
