NZ Doctor Cover Story: South Seas Healthcare's Mobile Service
The latest issue of New Zealand Doctor features South Seas Healthcare's Mobile Service team!
“The conditions we are still finding people in, and especially the health conditions we have seen, are just surreal, and the loss of jobs and income, anxiety, and lack of transport are the main barriers to getting help. Then there are patients who won’t seek medical attention because of their residence status, or they simply aren’t aware of the resources available to them. “It’s just sad, so for me it’s about teaching people to take back control of their health and being involved in getting their health back. Education, or just being an advocate, is key. It’s about letting people know there is support out there,”
“That is the positive in this story, there is help out there, and we just have to navigate them towards finding it.”
Join Mobile lead Cherry Elisaia, nurse Niteeka Naidu, and support worker Tasi Eniata, in this amazing story by journalist Alan Perrott entitled 'Caring enough to knock on the right doors.' The service is for existing South Seas patients and can provide general primary care, flu vaccinations and even Covid-19 screening and assessment/swabbing.
