South Seas Operating Clinic Under Alert Level 3
This week, New Zealand has downgraded to Alert Level 3 (Restrict). There is some loosening of the restrictions that have been in place but level 3 does not change much for our general practice. The clinic now operates from 8am to 5pm Monday to Friday and Saturday from 8am to 1pm.
There is essentially no change in the way we are working. Although we have a duty of care to the most vulnerable in our South Auckland community, in particular the elderly and those living with co-morbidity and in deprivation, under Alert Level 3 the following guidance remains;
Virtual appointments are still the preferred method of our service delivery. Face-to-face appointments may be provided for urgent care only but you must ring us first for an appointment.
The principles of Level 3 remain the same as Level 4.
South Seas clinic will remain open under level 3 – as we were during alert level 4.
Virtual consultations will still be conducted online or by phone where possible.
We will only be undertaking face-to-face appointments in exceptional cases.
Prescriptions will be faxed to your nominated pharmacy.
Flu vaccination appointments with one of our nurses are available.
We remind our patients to ring the clinic first and book an appointment with our doctors or nurses; please do not come in and wait for us to call you back. You will be triaged and assessed by the doctor on the phone.
If you are unwell and need medical attention, please call us. We are still able to care for you. If you need immediate and urgent care, hospitals are also still open.
If your child is unwell and needs to see your GP or go to hospital, the medical and nursing staff will make the place safe for you to be treated. If you are very unwell with significant chest pains, call 111 and get an ambulance.
Stay safe and well and, importantly, secure in your bubble. We all need to continue to play our part in uniting against Covid-19, by looking after ourselves, our families and friends and the most vulnerable in our communities.
If you have any other health concerns for yourself or your family, you can call the regular Healthline number free on 0800 611 116 for advice.
