Tepora Peseta is of Samoan descent and a New Zealand- trained Registered Nurse. She has worked in both hospital and community health settings in Auckland for well over forty years. Tepora has held various lead nursing roles in clinical areas such as charge nurse, nurse manager, clinic nurse leader, nurse advisor and in administration as nurse leader, nurse  coordinator, coach and mentor and nurse assessor. Tepora has a nursing background in pediatrics specialising in children’s accident, emergency and trauma management, as well as children’s medical acute and chronic care conditions. She holds a Masters of Nursing MN (Hons) focusing on Pacific Nursing Leadership in Primary Health Care (PHC) and is passionate about nursing. She encourages primary health care nurses, and particularly Pasefika nurses, to be proactive and take on leadership roles as they face the tsunami of health/social challenges for Pacific people now and in the future. Tepora is currently the Director of Nursing for SouthSeas Healthcare. In this role, she is responsible for the strategic direction, providing operational advice and clinical oversight, promoting professional development and enhancing extra curricula and post graduate study for all nurses working in areas of general practice, well child and infant health, integrated services and the ManaKidz Programme promoting Rheumatic Fever sore throat assessment and treatment of skin conditions in low-decile primary and intermediate schools in the Otara locality of Counties Manukau district South Auckland.
